Updates to Older Cases
Changes to STI Prophylaxis
In June 2025, BASHH changed their stance and issued new guidance around the use of Doxycycline in higher-risk individuals as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). As such, we have now rewritten this case to reflect these changes.
The guidelines can be accessed here for anyone who is interested!
Changes to Gender Dysphoria: Adolescent Case
Last year, the government changed the requirements for who was allowed to refer individuals under 18 to gender clinics. In the past, GPs could refer; currently, however, gender clinics will only accept referrals from the following organisations:
NHS Community and Hospital Paediatric Services
NHS CYP Mental Health (CYPMH) Teams
Therefore, if you wish to refer someone to a children and young people gender service, you must refer initially to one of the two services above, so that they can assess and make an onward referral if appropriate. Due to the changes in guidance, we have now changed our case to reflect the updated practice.
